Hulk Hogan vs. Gawker movie is a go

Hulk Hogan's infamous lawsuit against Gawker Media is being adapted for the big screen.

Francis Lawrence, who helmed the last three "Hunger Games" movies and the more recent "Red Sparrow," has signed on to direct a movie about the legal battle, according to Dave McNary of Variety. Lawrence said he's targeting A-list actors to play the roles of Hogan, former Gawker CEO Nick Denton, and Peter Thiel, the venture capitalist who secretly funded Hogan's lawsuit.

The news comes three months after David A. Neuman's Blackrock Productions announced it had acquired the rights to the Ryan Holiday-penned book "Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker and the Anatomy of Intrigue."

"When I read Ryan's extraordinary book I was totally taken with this story, such an exquisitely contemporary tale, and I immediately had a vision for it as a film," Lawrence said. "It's an important and meaningful story, and one I'm excited to tell. I'm thrilled to come aboard and to work with this team."
