Drowning sorrows: Baltimore bar offers free shots whenever Davis gets a hit

A Baltimore bar is looking to capitalize on the Orioles' incredibly bad start to the season with a new promotion. Whenever first baseman Chris Davis manages to get a hit, patrons will get free shots at Bartenders Pub, according to Edward Lee of The Baltimore Sun.

The bar may not be out very much if Davis continues his pace. He's only managed 31 hits in 229 plate appearances through his first 57 games (.150 batting average) and has gone hitless in 32 different appearances.

The Orioles lost their seventh straight game on Wednesday and have the worst record in the major leagues at 19-48. To generate interest among the remaining fan base, the pub's owners decided this was the best option available.

"We're just trying to give people a reason to come out and watch the games again," bar co-owner Danny Coker said.

The prize shots are a mix of amaretto and Miller High Life beer and are called Dr. Pepper shooters because they apparently taste like that particular soft drink.
