Report: Bulls skipped NBA Global Camp showcase to save $10,000

The NBA Global Camp in Treviso, Italy this week is a league-run event that offers teams a chance to scout Europe's best talent in person - an opportunity that one team decided not to take.

While the other 29 NBA teams sent scouts to the overseas draft combine, the Chicago Bulls were absent - apparently because they didn't want to pay the $10,000 participation fee to help cover the costs of the event, camp officials told ESPN's Jonathan Givony.

Many of the players participating in the event project as future NBA draft prospects, and this season, the league's opening-day rosters boasted 108 international-born players from 42 countries.

The rebuilding Bulls traded their second-round pick in last year's draft for $3.5 million. That pick became Jordan Bell, who's averaging over 10 minutes per game for the Golden State Warriors as a rookie in the NBA Finals.
