Kevin Durant is teaming up with FOX Sports Films on a documentary about the lives of incarcerated basketball players at San Quentin State Prison in California.

Durant's company Thirty Five Media will executive produce the documentary, titled "Q Ball," and Michael Tolajian ("30 for 30: Once Brothers") will serve as the director, FOX announced Wednesday in a press release. The idea for the project was kick-started by Durant's visits to the prison with his Golden State Warriors teammates.

"My first visit to San Quentin with my teammates was an unforgettable experience that moved me and made me want to bring it to a larger audience," Durant said. "This film shines a light on these individuals, their struggles, and their connection through basketball."

"Q Ball" is set to premiere in early 2019.
