Charles Oliveira to take Bobby Green's spot vs. Guida at UFC 225
Charles Oliveira is set to replace Bobby Green in a lightweight fight with Clay Guida on the Fight Pass prelims of UFC 225 on June 9 in Chicago, the promotion announced on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old Brazilian accepted the challenge to step in on just 10 days' notice, though he still needs to get a work visa and medical exams before making the trip to the Windy City, sources told MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz.
Oliveira (22-8) last fought in December, losing via TKO to Paul Felder at UFC 218 and is 1-1 since moving up from featherweight in 2017.
Also a former featherweight, Guida (34-17) is 2-0 since returning to 155 lbs with wins over Erik Koch and Joe Lauzon, the latter of which he knocked out in 67 seconds last November. The 36-year-old former Strikeforce lightweight champ could reach his first three-fight win streak since 2010-11 with a win over Oliveira.
The fight is scheduled to be the second of the night on a super-stacked UFC 225 card that will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between champion Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero.
