The UFC's first trip to Russia will feature one of the country's most accomplished MMA veterans.

Former heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum will face Russia's Aleksei Oleinik in the main event of UFC Moscow on Sept. 15, MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani reported on "The MMA Hour" on Monday.

Oleinik (56-11-1) called for a bout with Werdum after defeating Junior Albini at UFC 224 via submission. The 40-year-old who fights out of Moscow has fought in Russia 33 times during his pro MMA career, but not once since joining the UFC in 2014. Oleinik is 5-2 since joining the promotion.

Werdum (23-8-1) is coming off a loss to Alexander Volkov in March that ended a two-fight win streak. The Brazil native has spent time training in Russia before, but has never fought in the country. Werdum held the heavyweight title from 2014-16, losing to current champ Stipe Miocic and has a 3-2 record since.
