The injuries are quickly mounting for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Shortstop Paul DeJong has been placed on the 10-day disabled list after suffering a fractured left hand during Thursday's game. He will undergo surgery Friday and miss significant time, Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak told Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

DeJong was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning but did not appear to be injured, and it took replay to confirm that he'd actually been struck. He remained in the game and lined out in the ninth.

In 41 games this season, DeJong is hitting .260/.351/.473 with eight home runs and eight doubles.

St. Louis currently has 10 players on the DL, including Yadier Molina, Carlos Martinez, Adam Wainwright, and Luke Gregerson.
