Cena discusses split from Nikki Bella: 'I had my heart broken out of nowhere'
John Cena still wants to marry fellow WWE star Nikki Bella despite the recent end to their engagement.
Cena was incredibly candid while discussing his split from Nikki on NBC's "TODAY Show" on Monday, telling hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb he's had a difficult time coping with the breakup.
"I had my heart broken out of nowhere - or, for me, it was out of nowhere - and anyone who's experienced that knows that it comes with a series of bad feelings," Cena said. "I've looked at myself every day, and I've tried to evaluate myself and the woman I love. For anyone out there speculating on what I'm doing with my life now: I still love Nicole, I still would love to marry Nicole, I still would love to have a family with Nicole. There was an unfortunate set of circumstances where our relationship ended.
"There's been a lot of speculation recently about me being seen in public and everyone's been like, 'Oh, John Cena's enjoying the single life,'" he continued. "No, I was supposed to be married and have a honeymoon over these two weeks. It's the first time in 15 years that I've taken a vacation. I am in my house alone surrounded by these emotionally strong memories. And everyday from 6 to 9, I get out of the house and talk to strangers as social interaction."
Cena and Nikki ended their relationship in April after six years together. The breakup will be shown on the upcoming season of the reality show "Total Bellas."
Nikki was asked about Cena's comments Monday while on the red carpet at the NBCUniversal Upfronts in New York City.
