Tampa submits bid to host WrestleMania
WrestleMania could be coming to Tampa in the future.
Tampa Bay Sports Commission executive director Rob Higgins announced Thursday evening that his group would be submitting a bid Friday to hold WrestleMania at Raymond James Stadium in either 2023, 2024, or 2025, according to Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times.
The group also plans to submit a bid to host the Royal Rumble in 2022 or 2023.
"I think it's something we've been taking a hard look at for quite some time," Higgins said at his group's annual Sneaker Soiree. "Naturally, we think with the rich tradition of professional wrestling in our community, with so many (WWE stars) who live here, with how much passion there is for professional wrestling, that it makes a lot of sense to try to host the premier event in WrestleMania."
WrestleMania 33 was held at Camping World Stadium in Orlando last year.
