Oscar De La Hoya is planning to build his own mixed martial arts promotion, the former boxing star revealed to TMZ Sports.
"We're talking some business," De La Hoya told TMZ. "It's no secret that I love what MMA fighters do. I want to get into the MMA business. I want to start Golden Boy MMA."
De La Hoya said he aimed to sign Chuck Liddell as his first star under the proposed new banner. Liddell, who last fought during UFC 115 in June 2010, remained ambivalent.
For the time being, De La Hoya's ambition is just an idea, but it'll be compelling to see whether the 45-year-old angles to create his own empire.
