San Francisco Giants right-hander Johnny Cueto will get multiple opinions on his sore throwing elbow, manager Bruce Bochy told reporters Wednesday, and may meet with orthopedist Dr. James Andrews this weekend during his club's trip to Atlanta.

Though the nature and extent of Cueto's injury haven't been determined - the Giants are still awaiting the results of his MRI - a consultation with Andrews is often a precursor to Tommy John surgery. Cueto was placed on the disabled list Tuesday.

"We definitely want to make sure we do the right thing," Bochy said, per Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area. "I don't think you rule out anything ... it's a matter of putting all our heads together and deciding the type of rehab and what needs to be done."

Cueto, who was initially diagnosed with inflammation in his elbow, dealt with discomfort in each of his last two starts, though it didn't seem to affect his performance much. On Saturday, he allowed just two runs over six innings in an 8-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the 32-year-old held the Los Angeles Angels scoreless over six frames in his previous start. Through the first month of the season, Cueto had crafted a microscopic 0.84 ERA over five outings.

"There's been nobody in the game who's been pitching better," Bochy recently told MLB.com's Chris Haft.
