2018 No. 5 recruit Romeo Langford commits to Indiana
Romeo Langford is staying close to home.
After months of speculation about his immediate future, the highly touted prospect announced his commitment to Indiana.
The 6-foot-6 guard from New Albany, Ind., amassed quite a resume this past year, earning a selection to the McDonald's All-American Game and the prestigious title of Indiana Mr. Basketball after his senior season.
Langford is listed as the No. 5 high school prospect on the 2018 ESPN 100, making him the program's top recruit since Noah Vonleh (No. 13, 2013). Langford was the highest-rated recruit who had yet to commit; that distinction now belongs to Anfernee Simons at No. 9.
The Hoosiers are coming off a mixed inaugural season under coach Archie Miller after nine years with Tom Crean at the helm. Indiana finished 16-15 overall and 9-9 in Big Ten play. The team went 1-7 against ranked opponents, the lone win coming against No. 18 Notre Dame.
With the team's second-leading scorer, senior Robert Johnson, out of eligibility, Langford has an opportunity to immediately slot into a veteran Hoosiers rotation as the team's starting two-guard. The Hoosiers will hope to build cohesion quickly as they attempt to return to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2016.
