The Colorado Rockies lost one key piece of their lineup on Monday to injury as second baseman DJ LeMahieu was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a strained hamstring.

In a corresponding move, outfielder Carlos Gonzalez - who had been on the DL with a hamstring strain of his own - was activated by the team.

LeMahieu hasn't played since Friday when he left Colorado's game in Miami after just three innings due to the hamstring problem. His DL stint is thus backdated to April 28.

The former batting champion has been a critical piece of the Rockies' lineup early on this season, hitting .290/.367/.505 with five home runs, 12 RBIs, and three stolen bases through his first 27 games in 2018.

Gonzalez, meanwhile, has missed almost two weeks. The 32-year-old has appeared in 20 games this season, posting a .235/.264/.426 slash line with three homers and 11 RBIs.
