Francisco Rodriguez, owner of the fourth-most saves in Major League Baseball history, has agreed to a deal with the Long Island Ducks of the unaffiliated Atlantic League, according to Jon Heyman of FRS Network.

The 36-year-old K-Rod most recently pitched in the majors with the Detroit Tigers in 2017, posting a 7.38 ERA over 25 1/3 innings before getting released. Since then, the Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies have signed him and subsequently released him without a promotion to the big club.

Throughout his remarkable 16-year career, K-Rod has recorded 437 saves. The next closest to him is Fernando Rodney at 302 saves, with Craig Kimbrel in third with 298. Rodriguez sits fourth all time behind Mariano Rivera, Trevor Hoffman, and Lee Smith.

Despite being an independent-league team, the Ducks have helped rejuvenate the careers of Rich Hill and Henderson Alvarez in recent memory. Of note, Eric Gagne attempted to springboard a comeback to MLB with the Ducks in 2017 but wound up retiring once again.
