Toronto FC's unwillingness to discuss a new contract has become a problem for star Sebastian Giovinco, the 31-year-old admitted to the Kurtis W. Larson of the Toronto Sun.

Giovinco reaffirmed his desire to remain with Toronto FC ahead of the Canadian team's attempt to become the first Major League Soccer club to lift the CONCACAF Champions League trophy on Wednesday,

However, the lack of negotiations has produced a sense of uncertainty over the possibility of completing a new deal, which Giovinco feels is deserved considering his positive influence on Toronto FC since joining from Juventus in 2015. His current contract runs until 2019, and he would like to extend it.

"I already talk, but they said it’s not the moment (for contract talks)," Giovinco said. "For them, that’s not a problem, for me it is a little bit. I want to know my future. I have family. I’m 31 years old. For what I do for the city, I think I deserve it, no?"

"For them it's not a problem, for me it's starting to be a problem ... I already said I want to stay here forever ... If not, I have to think about other options."

Along with finding the back of the net 60 times since signing with Toronto FC, Giovinco led the club to its first MLS Cup title last season and became the first member of the Canadian side to win the league's MVP award.

He's also been integral during the team's path to the CONCACAF Champions League final, scoring important goals against Tigres UANL and Club America.

Toronto FC will look to make history when it attempts to overturn a 2-1 first-leg defeat against Chivas de Guadalajara during Wednesday's decisive match in Mexico.
