Former players Prigioni, Splitter hired by Nets

The Brooklyn Nets have added some international flair to the organization, as the team announced two former NBA players, Argentinian Pablo Prigioni and Brazilian Tiago Splitter, have joined the staff.

Prigioni will be an assistant coach on Kenny Atkinson's staff. After a storied career overseas, the sharp-shooting point guard notably became the oldest rookie in NBA history as a 35-year-old on the New York Knicks in 2012-13. He played a total of four seasons with stops with the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 3.5 points, 2.8 assists, and shooting 37.9 percent on 3-pointers for his NBA career.

Splitter will serve as a scout for the Nets, as well as help with player development. He debuted in 2010-11 as a 26-year-old with the San Antonio Spurs and went on to play a significant supporting role for the team's back-to-back Finals appearances in 2013 and 2014, including the team's fifth title in the latter campaign. After stops with the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers, Splitter's playing career ended due to lower-body injuries. He officially announced his retirement earlier this year.
