MMA veteran Alexis Vila was arrested on a second-degree murder charge involving conspiracy and a weapon in Miami last Tuesday, MMA Fighting's Marc Raimondi reported Monday, citing Miami-Dade County Police records.

A warrant for Vila's arrest was issued March 29. As of Monday, he's being held without bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami - with a hold for immigration pending, since he defected to the United States from his native Cuba in 1997.

Vila, a bronze medalist in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Atlanta Games, has been arrested before. He was brought up on airport violence charges in 2004 after crashing his vehicle into a terminal at Fort Lauderdale airport and subsequently served three years in prison. The 47-year-old made an MMA foray upon his release, compiling a 15-7 pro record at both 135 and 125 pounds with stints in Bellator and World Series of Fighting. He most recently competed under the Titan FC banner in August 2016.
