The Los Angeles Angels aren't sure when Shohei Ohtani will make his next start, but they'll have a better idea after Sunday.

Ohtani is scheduled to throw a "full gorilla" bullpen session on Sunday to determine if the blister that forced the starter out of his last game has properly healed. Manager Mike Scioscia will wait until after Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants to make an announcement.

"He felt good,” Scioscia told the Associated Press' Bernie Wilson about Ohtani's light session Friday. "It was just a touch and feel. The effort level was just really to feel the baseball. It wasn’t a full gorilla bullpen where you go hard. Sunday’s bullpen will give us a little better idea. But yesterday was definitely a good day as far as taking one step forward."

Scioscia added that the main reason Ohtani didn't bat against the Giants on Saturday was the matchup against fellow lefty Derek Holland was unfavorable.

If all goes well Sunday, Ohtani could still start Monday's game against the Houston Astros.
