Giolito posts one of the worst lines from any starter this season
Lucas Giolito's start Saturday was short, and it certainly wasn't pretty.
The Chicago White Sox right-hander was shelled for nine runs off five hits (one home run), and seven walks in two innings of work against the Houston Astros. He struck out just one batter. He needed 72 pitches to record six outs, and only threw 31 for strikes, before finishing with a game score of minus-4.
First inning
Giolito allowed four runs in the first inning after giving up four hits and walking two batters. The White Sox also burned two mound visits during the frame.

Second inning
The second inning didn't go much better as Giolito walked the first three batters before Josh Reddick blasted a grand slam.

Third inning
White Sox manager Rick Renteria sent Giolito out for a third inning, but quickly went to the bullpen after the first two batters were walked. One of the runs would come around to score and was charged to Giolito.
Batter | Result | Score |

Marwin Gonzalez | Walk | 8-0 |
Evan Gattis | Walk | 8-0 |
Giolito's disappearing command is certainly a cause for concern for the White Sox. He issued five walks over 6 1/3 innings over his last start, and established a new career high with the seven free passes Saturday. He's walked 19 in 20 innings this season while also hitting four batters.
