Report: Stoke City ready to cancel loan deal for PSG's Jese Rodriguez

Stoke City is looking to cancel the loan contract of Paris Saint-Germain forward Jese Rodriguez, who has angered the team after failing to show up to training for the last two weeks, reports John Percy of the Telegraph.

The 25-year-old was granted compassionate leave to take care of his ill child back in Spain, but he was meant to return to the club last week ahead of its bid to stave off relegation with a match against Burnley on Sunday.

As a result of his absence, the club will look to scrap his season-long loan deal early, with a conclusion expected in the next few days. However, manager Paul Lambert and the Stoke board are trying to focus only on the task at hand.

Stoke chairman Peter Coates told the Telegraph: "It's a massive game and undoubtedly one of the most important in the 10 years Stoke have been in the Premier League.

"We've never fought relegation before at this stage of the season so we all realise how hugely important it is. We've clearly had some great times in the Premier League and we desperately want to keep them going."

Though Jese will reportedly no longer play a part in Stoke's survival efforts, his contributions through the season have been minimal, anyway. The former Real Madrid attacker recorded just one goal and one assist in 13 total appearances for the Potters.
