Sergio Garcia will not be playing the weekend at the Texas Open - his first time missing consecutive cuts on American soil since 2003.

The 2017 Masters champion fired an opening round 2-over 74, followed by an even-par 72 on Friday to miss the cut by one stroke. The result comes on the heels of his missed cut at the Masters two weeks ago.

Frustration set in for Garcia after an errant tee shot on his 14th hole, as he hurled his driver into the adjacent shrubbery before pondering his retrieval method.

Garcia ended up making bogey.

The 38-year-old struggled on the TPC San Antonio greens, a course he helped Greg Norman design. After losing 1.259 strokes putting Thursday, Garcia reverted back to the claw grip for Friday's round, but to no avail.

The Spaniard is not the only notable heading home early. Former world No. 1 Adam Scott finished 4-over, failing to recover from an opening triple-bogey in his second round.

Garcia will tee it up next week at the Zurich Classic alongside teammate and fellow countryman Rafael Cabrera-Bello.
