While recent reports suggest otherwise, Stephen Curry may be nearing his return to action from his knee injury.

The Golden State Warriors point guard and two-time MVP will take part in modified practices beginning Saturday, with his on-court rehabilitation continuing to ramp up, the team announced Friday.

He'll be re-evaluated in one week.

Curry has been sidelined since March 23 with a Grade 2 left MCL sprain he suffered by colliding with Warriors teammate JaVale McGee.

The Athletic's Marcus Thompson recently reported that Curry is still "not close to playing," and would likely require the full six weeks to recover.

Golden State leads the San Antonio Spurs 3-0 in their first-round series. Game 4 goes down Sunday at the AT&T Center.

The winner of that series will take on the winner of the New Orleans Pelicans-Portland Trail Blazers series, which New Orleans has a 3-0 lead in. If either San Antonio or Portland pushes their respective series further, it would push back the start date of the second round, and theoretically give Curry more time to recover in order to be ready for the start of that matchup.

He finished the regular season averaging 26.4 points on 49.5 percent shooting and 42.3 percent from deep, along with 5.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.6 steals, across 51 outings.
