The Golden State Warriors could be without Stephen Curry for the start of the second round as he continues to recover from a sprained MCL.

Curry is still "not close to playing" and will likely require the full six weeks of his recovery timeline, which would mean his absence could extend into the next series, according to Marcus Thompson of The Athletic.

Thompson speculated that Curry would most likely return for Game 3 of the second round, although the exact timeline would be determined by how the rest of the first round shakes out.

The two-time MVP was seen going through an individual workout prior to Game 3 against the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday. He was mostly labored and did not look close to being available.

Curry sustained a Grade II sprain of his right knee on March 23 in a collision with teammate JaVale McGee.

The Warriors lead the Spurs 3-0 in their opening-round series.
