Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has cleared concussion protocol, but he will remain out for Game 2 against the Miami Heat, the team announced.

Embiid underwent surgery to correct an orbital fracture that he suffered during a collision with teammate Markelle Fultz. The initial timeline was that he would miss two-to-four weeks, although Embiid advanced that timeline by saying he would already be playing if the decision were up to him.

Nevertheless, the Sixers have been unbeaten in his absence and absolutely trounced the Heat without him Saturday. Therefore, given that they already lead in their series, the Sixers have decided to play it safe with Embiid.

The Cameroonian pivot averaged 22.9 points, 11 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 blocks in 63 appearances this season.
