Report: Hawks permit Budenholzer to meet with Suns about coaching vacancy
The Atlanta Hawks have reportedly granted head coach Mike Budenholzer permission to speak to the Phoenix Suns about the latter's head coaching vacancy, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Budenholzer missed the playoffs for the first time in his five seasons as head coach, finishing the year with just 24 wins. He won Coach of the Year honors in 2015 when the Hawks finished with 60 wins.
The Suns have had five different coaches since 2013 and haven't made the playoffs since losing in the Western Conference finals in 2010 to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Earl Watson began the year as head coach but was fired just three games into the season. Longtime assistant coach Jay Triano took on interim duties for the rest of the campaign.
The Suns finished with the worst record in the league at 21-61.
