Report: Texas A&M's Williams signs with agents, forgoes NCAA eligibility

Texas A&M sophomore Robert Williams has signed with agents, forgoing his final two years of NCAA eligibility, according to Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania.

Williams reportedly signed agents Mike Silverman and Brandon Grier, who collectively represent current NBA bigs like Ekpe Udoh and Dewayne Dedmon - fitting, as Williams projects as similarly defensive-minded frontcourt player.

Though he didn't see a dramatic uptick in statistical production in year two with the Aggies, Williams averaged a consistent 11.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks over 61 collegiate outings. He capped his amateur career with 12 points, six boards, three assists, three blocks, and two steals in Texas A&M's loss to Michigan in the Sweet 16 last month.

A possible late lottery pick, Williams could become the highest drafted Aggie since Acie Law, the No. 11 pick by the Atlanta Hawks in 2007. He can also count the Milwaukee Bucks' Khris Middleton and the Los Angeles Clippers' DeAndre Jordan among his fellow Texas A&M alumni; certainly, he would be glad to continue the tradition of strong defenders to come out of the program in recent years.
