Add another layer to incoming Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson's waiver appeal.

Ole Miss is formally objecting to Patterson's assessment of the conditions within the program that he claims caused him to transfer from the school amid an NCAA scandal, his attorney, Thomas Mars, told CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd.

Patterson claimed he was misled regarding imminent school penalties by former Rebels coach Hugh Freeze during his recruitment. The quarterback is seeking a waiver from the NCAA allowing him to be immediately eligible for the 2018 season instead of sitting out the year as a result.

Ole Miss reportedly has issues with how the former five-star recruit portrayed his reasoning for the transfer, a source told Dodd, and are not supporting it. The team also had the option of advocating the transfer or remaining neutral.

The NCAA's approval of Patterson's waiver would have a significant impact on Michigan's 2018 season. He' has been practicing with Michigan this spring in hopes of landing the Wolverines' starting quarterback spot.

The Rebels' objection is believed to be the final step required before the NCAA rules on Patterson's waiver request.
