Molina says Lovullo called him a 'motherf-----'
Yadier Molina wants to let the world know what prompted his angry outburst toward Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo on Sunday.
The longtime St. Louis Cardinals catcher said Lovullo called him "a bad word," and it's become clear what that word was.
"(Lovullo) called me a motherf----- twice," Molina said postgame, according to Cameron Cox of 12 News. "If you're going to call somebody that, you better be ready to fight."
The catcher later posted a variation of that quote on Instagram.
"You can't talk to a player like that. Or an umpire. You've got to be professional," Molina added, according to MLB.com's Joe Trezza.
Lovullo has since apologized for his part in the altercation, saying he has the "utmost respect" for the veteran. Umpire Tim Timmons defended Molina, describing the catcher's response as "understandable."
