Thanks to a powerful storm that's hitting San Francisco, Friday's scheduled game between the Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers at AT&T Park has been postponed. The game will be made up on April 28 at 1:05 p.m. PT, as part of a split doubleheader.

In addition, the Giants announced that the start time of Saturday's game has been moved back two hours, from 1:05 p.m. PT to 3:05 p.m., in hopes of avoiding more rainfall.

It's only the sixth time that a Giants home game has been rained out since the team moved to AT&T Park in 2000, according to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle. The last one happened nearly 12 years ago to the day, on April 12, 2006. Including Friday, just 33 Giants home games have been rained out since the team moved to San Francisco in 1958.

The San Francisco Bay Area was hit by a rare "atmospheric river" storm on Thursday night that continued into Friday morning, prompting the National Weather Service to issue flood warnings for the region. It was expected that between one-to-three inches of rain would hit San Francisco and Oakland, with even more expected in the North Bay area, Sophie Haigney of the Chronicle reports.
