Rooney: My overhead kick was better than Ronaldo's

The only thing that would have impressed Wayne Rooney more about Cristiano Ronaldo's spectacular Champions League goal is if the Real Madrid star added one small element to his arsenal.

After Ronaldo's bicycle kick stunned the football world, there was plenty of debate as to where it ranked among the sport's greatest strikes.

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane chimed in and claimed that his game-winning volley in the Champions League final against Bayer Leverkusen in 2002 was superior to Ronaldo's goal against Juventus on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand shot down suggestions that Rooney's strike against Manchester City in 2011 was of a higher calibre.

Rooney obviously didn't take too kindly to his former teammate's assessment, joking, "I texted Rio and I think it's actually a harder technique to do it off your shins. So I'll go with my own."
