The Miami Marlins will not be signing Trevor Rosenthal after all.

After it was initially reported by Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday that the Marlins agreed to a one-year contract with the reliever, his agent Scott Boras told Nightengale there was no deal and Rosenthal will instead spend the next year rehabbing from Tommy John surgery.

Rosenthal also appeared to shoot down the report after it was tweeted out.

Rosenthal underwent surgery last August and intends to work out for teams this winter when he's healthy again.

The 27-year-old spent the first six years of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals, serving as their closer off and on from 2014-2017. The team released him in November.
