The Texas Rangers will be without Elvis Andrus for six to eight weeks as the shortstop was diagnosed with an olecranon fracture of the right elbow.

While Andrus will miss substantial time, the 29-year-old does not require surgery.

Andrus was removed from Wednesday night's game against the Los Angeles Angels in the ninth inning after being hit by a Keynan Middleton pitch on a checked swing.

Through 14 games, Andrus was posting an impressive .327/.426/.500 slash line with two homers. The infielder is coming off of his best season yet, during which he hit 20 home runs and scored 100 runs.
