Indians' Bauer pledges daily donation of $420.69 in '69 Days of Giving'
Trevor Bauer, the eccentric Cleveland Indians right-hander, has a philanthropic side - and a sense of humor, too.
Bauer filed for a $6,420,969.69 salary in 2018 but earned $6,525,000 through arbitration. Having received "more than what (he) wanted," he announced Wednesday a new charity initiative in which he'll donate $420.69 to a crowd-sourced charitable organization for each of the next 68 days, then give $69,420.69 to an institution of his choosing on the 69th day.
Bauer, who dubbed the campaign the '69 Days of Giving,' introduced his plan in a Twitter video that is, fittingly, 69 seconds long.

"Baseball's been very good to me," Bauer explains. "It's afforded me the opportunity to do things I enjoy. In fact, as a result of my arbitration case this year, I'm being paid more than what I wanted. So, because of that, I've decided to give away the difference between what I'm making this year and what I wanted to make this year as part of a campaign called '69 Days of Giving.'"
Bauer, who turned 27 in January, is heading into his sixth season with Cleveland. Last year, he managed a 4.19 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 31 starts and one relief appearance with the Indians.
