Gabriel Jesus has put contract negotiations with Manchester City on hold until after the 2018 World Cup in July following his rejection of the club's latest offer, according to Paul Hirst of the Times.

The 20-year-old was set to be rewarded for his impressive start at the Etihad with an increase in his roughly £65,000 per week salary, with talks kicking off in December. But, three months later, an agreement hasn't been reached, and the player has opted to switch his focus toward Brazil's efforts in Russia this summer instead.

Hirst reports City's latest offer was around £90,000 per week, but Jesus believes he's worth more than £100,000, reports Jack Gaughan from the Daily Mail.

Jesus joined the club out of Palmeiras in 2017 and his deal runs until June 30, 2021. Since joining the club, Jesus has challenged Sergio Aguero for a starting spot in Pep Guardiola's side due to his penchant for goal-scoring, notching 18 goals in 43 matches across all competitions.

He was also among the 15 players named by Brazil manager Tite who are assured a spot on the 2018 World Cup roster, and is expected to compete with Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino for a starting role up top with the Selecao.
