Yovani Gallardo won't be rejoining the Milwaukee Brewers after all, as the veteran right-hander was informed Saturday that he won't make the team.

Gallardo will not join the Brewers for next week's exhibition games in Houston, and it's unclear whether he'll remain with the organization.

Gallardo, who spent the first eight years of his career with Milwaukee and landed a one-year, $2-million deal with the club in December, arrived at camp ready to compete for a starting role, but the Brewers decided midway through spring training to have him audition for a bullpen job. Over eight Cactus League appearances, including one start, the 32-year-old managed a 4.73 ERA and 1.50 WHIP, allowing three home runs while issuing eight walks in 13 1/3 innings.

Last year, Gallardo, an All-Star with the Brewers in 2010, stumbled to a career-worst 5.72 ERA over 22 starts and six relief appearances with the Seattle Mariners.
