Report: Boogie offers to cover cost of Stephon Clark's funeral

DeMarcus Cousins may not play for the Kings anymore, but he still cares about Sacramento.

The All-Star center has reached out to the family of Stephon Clark and offered to pay for his funeral, a source told The Sacramento Bee's Jason Jones.

Clark's family started a GoFundMe fundraiser Monday to pay for the funeral and burial expenses. The $50,000 goal was surpassed, with over $61,725 raised as of Friday evening.

The 22-year-old Clark was shot and killed by Sacramento police Sunday in his grandmother's backyard because the cops mistook the cellphone the young black man was holding for a gun. The incident sparked protests in Sacramento on Thursday, with some demonstrators blocking the doors at Golden 1 Center which caused a delay of the Kings-Hawks game and prevented ticket-holders from entering.

Cousins, whom the Kings traded to the New Orleans Pelicans last year, prides himself on giving back to the the community, whether it's in the Big Easy, Sacramento, or his hometown of Mobile, Ala. He's hosted meetings between citizens and police in the latter two cities in an effort to improve relations.
