The coaching situation at Pitt grows more intriguing with each passing day, as the Panthers met with St. Bonaventure head coach Mark Schmidt on Thursday regarding their coaching vacancy, according to Adam Zagoria of The New York Times, citing a source.

The report comes less than 24 hours removed from the school reportedly scheduling a board of directors meeting meant to address its head coaching vacancy - a meeting that was cancelled earlier Friday, a source told CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein.

Pitt has been looking for a new head coach since firing former head man Kevin Stallings at the beginning of March. Stallings struggled to bring consistency to the Panthers, missing the NCAA tournament in both his years at the helm while registering a disappointing 24-42 record.

As for Schmidt, he's been with the Bonnies since 2008, leading St. Bonaventure to the Big Dance twice while amassing a 192-152 record.
