The BIG3 announced Wednesday it has named Nancy Lieberman as the Power head coach.

Lieberman previously served as head coach of the Texas Legends of what was then called the NBA D-League.

Lieberman will replace Clyde Drexler, who was promoted to BIG3 commissioner last week following Roger Mason Jr.'s departure.

"Nancy is one of the sharpest basketball minds and also one of the most competitive," Drexler said in a statement. "Her experience and basketball acumen will stand out in the BIG3, which is filled with star players and coaches. I couldn't be happier to pass her the coaching torch."

Lieberman, 59, served as an assistant coach for the Ball Hogs during Week 6 in Dallas last season. With the Power, she'll work alongside co-captains Corey Maggette and Cuttino Mobley.

"It's an honor and privilege for me to be a part of the BIG3 and its vision," Lieberman said. "We have former NBA players and Hall of Fame coaches who still love the game, have a deep respect for the competition, and a passion to play competitive basketball. It's in our DNA."

Lieberman played in the WNBA for eight years and spent the last eight years coaching in the WNBA, G League (as head coach of the Texas Legends), and NBA (as an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings).

The league's second season begins June 22 at Toyota Center.
