Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant was already set to miss Friday's game against the Sacramento Kings, but matters may be more serious.

Durant had an MRI on his sore ribs Friday night, coach Steve Kerr said, according to the San Jose Mercury News' Mark Medina. His availability for Saturday against the Phoenix Suns is unknown.

With two stars in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson already on the shelf, the Warriors can ill afford a prolonged absence from Durant. Curry is out until at least next week due to his ailing ankle, while Thompson is expected to be sidelined for two weeks with a fractured thumb.

Golden State (52-16) is two games behind the Houston Rockets for first place in the Western Conference.
