Thanks to some stunning upsets in the South Region, Saturday's Elite Eight contest between No. 9 Kansas State and No. 11 Loyola Chicago will be one for the record books.

According to the NCAA's Director of Statistics David Worlock, the regional final between the two teams will be the first time in NCAA tournament history that a No. 9 meets a No. 11 seed.

Both teams have shocked the nation with their run to the Elite Eight, with Loyola Chicago getting national acclaim for taking down No. 6 Miami, No. 3 Tennessee, and No. 7 Nevada.

The ninth-seeded Wildcats got the benefit of avoiding top-seeded Virginia in the second round after the Cavaliers became the first No. 1 to ever lose to No. 16. Kansas State got by the giant-killers from UMBC in the Round of 32 and outlasted the top remaining seed on Thursday with a win over No. 5 Kentucky.
