Aaron Ramsey will use the international break for a "small procedure" on an injury concern, so misses out on Ryan Giggs' first squad as Wales manager.

Giggs expects Ramsey to feature in Arsenal's second leg against AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday.

There is a place in the squad for Real Madrid's Gareth Bale, while Brentford defender Chris Mepham could win his first cap for Wales. David Edwards has retired from international duty, and Paul Dummett sits out of the two China Cup games to focus on Newcastle United's battle against relegation.

"We've been in discussions with Arsenal and Aaron. He's got a small procedure, it's the ideal time in the break to get it done," Giggs explained to Ian Mitchelmore and Tom Coleman of Wales Online. "He'll be in the squad for AC Milan. It's a good time to get this done. It's a blow because he's a quality player but it's the best thing for the future for Aaron."

Ashley Williams continues as captain despite a difficult season at Everton, but there's an otherwise youthful look to the squad with teenagers Ethan Ampadu and Ben Woodburn pushing for minutes.

Wales takes on China on March 22, before facing either Uruguay or Czech Republic four days later.
