Tubby Smith confirmed Wednesday that he's no longer head coach of the Memphis Tigers.
Rumors have been swirling around Smith and a potential departure from Memphis over the past couple weeks, despite Smith signing a contract in August that was supposed to keep him commanding the Tigers' bench through the 2021 season.
Smith's tenure in Memphis comes to an end after two up-and-down seasons, in which he registered a 40-26 record.
Despite the decent overall showing, reports emerged following the end of the Tigers' season that linked the team to replacing Smith with former NBA All-Star Penny Hardaway.
