The New York Red Bulls are headed to the CONCACAF Champions League semi-finals after defeating Tijuana 3-1 at Red Bull Arena on Tuesday night, building on their previous 2-0 first-leg win for a 5-1 aggregate scoreline.

Goals from Tyler Adams, Marc Rzatkowski, and Alejandro Romero Gamarra all proved too much for the Xolos to overcome, despite Luis Mendoza opening the scoring early in the Mexican outfit's bid to overturn the earlier two-goal deficit.

The result makes the Red Bulls the first MLS team to defeat its opponent in both legs of a CONCACAF Champions League knockout round, while also recording the largest margin of victory for an MLS team in those elimination stages.

Jesse Marsch's side now awaits the winner of a matchup between the Seattle Sounders and Chivas Guadalajara, with the Sounders holding a 1-0 aggregate lead courtesy of Clint Dempsey's 78th-minute strike at CenturyLink Field in the first leg.

The Rave Green contest the second leg on Wednesday night in Guadalajara.

Meanwhile, Toronto FC takes on Tigres UANL at the Estadio Universitario after defeating its Mexican foes 2-1 at BMO Field in the first leg.
