Henderson welcomes Roger Huerta back to Bellator in April

Bellator 196 has a new main event, and it features a pair of familiar faces.

With a hand injury keeping featherweight James Gallagher from facing Adam Borics, former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson will now face returning veteran Roger Huerta on April 6 in Budapest, Hungary, as announced Monday by MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani on "The MMA Hour."

Borics will remain on the bill against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.

Huerta - once a highly touted prospect and the first UFC fighter to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated - first signed with Bellator in 2010 after compiling a 6-2 UFC record, falling to Pat Curran and Eddie Alvarez after submitting Chad Hinton in his promotional debut.

The 34-year-old took his talents to Asian outfit ONE Championship in 2012, where he went 2-3, but cited inactivity and adversarial dealings with CEO Chatri Sityodtong as reasons for severing ties with the promotion. He returns to Bellator on a two-fight win streak and was last seen besting UFC vet Hayder Hassan by DQ at a Phoenix FC show in December.

Henderson has lost two straight split decisions and three of four since joining Bellator two years ago, most recently getting the short end of the scorecards opposite Patricky Freire at Bellator 183 in September. His sole promotional victory came via injury TKO at the expense of Freire's brother Patricio at Bellator 160 in August 2016.
