All three MLS teams left in CONCACAF's premier competition won the first legs of their quarter-final encounters against Mexican opposition, putting them in the driver's seat heading into this week's reverse fixtures.

It was all for naught on Wednesday evening, as Seattle Sounders slumped to a 3-0 loss to Chivas de Guadalajara and were eliminated 3-1 on aggregate. Chivas hosted a second-half clinic, led by goals from Oswaldo Alanis, Javier Lopez, and Jose Godinez, in what turned out to be a thorough beating.

Toronto FC advances to the CONCACAF Champions League semi-finals on away goals after drawing 4-4 on aggregate against Tigres UANL. Sebastian Giovinco scored a free-kick to give the Reds a second away goal, which proved the difference despite suffering a 3-2 loss at the Estadio Universitario.
