Nolan Arenado and the Colorado Rockies won't be discussing the possibility of a contract extension any time soon.

The Rockies third baseman, who is one of MLB's brightest young stars, made it clear Sunday he refused to let his future free agency disrupt the team's season ahead.

"I don't think anything's going to happen until after the season," he explained to MLB.com's Thomas Harding. "We have a good team and our focus is on winning - as it should be - and that's what everybody wants."

Arenado isn't set to become a free agent until after the 2019 season, so the two sides have time to discuss a new deal.

The 26-year-old is set to earn $17.75 million this season and is also eligible for arbitration in 2019.

Arenado is a three-time All-Star, frequent MVP candidate - finishing among the top-10 in three consecutive seasons - and has won five straight Gold Gloves.
