Liverpool is reportedly looking to secure a move for Roma No. 1 Alisson before the summer transfer window opens in June.

After making an initial approach in January, Liverpool hopes to fend off interest from other parties intrigued by the 26-year-old shot-stopper's stellar campaign, with sources telling Sky Sports' Lyall Thomas that discussions have kicked off through an Italian intermediary.

Flush with cash after selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for the GDP of Mauritius, Liverpool's brass may shudder at Roma's reported £62-million valuation of the Brazilian World Cup certainty. That amount would be approximately £29 million more than the world-record fee tabled for Gianluigi Buffon, and £30 million more than Manchester City splashed for Ederson.

Roma is also reportedly vying to sign the 'keeper to new terms, though it's likely the Stadio Olimpico dweller will receive interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. Both clubs, like Liverpool, have harboured doubts about their respective first-choice shot-stoppers this season.

For current Reds No. 1 Loris Karius, reports of a move for Alisson surface at a curious time. Recently appointed first choice over Simon Mignolet by Jurgen Klopp, Karius leads the Champions League with five clean sheets, and has kept opponents off the scoreboard in three of his last four outings in all competitions.
