Kevin Durant did his best but it wasn't enough on Wednesday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, as he notched his first 50-point game of the season in a losing effort for the Golden State Warriors.

He went 17-of-27 shooting with six threes and a perfect 10-of-10 from the line, but the Warriors still lost 123-117. Damian Lillard answered with 44 points of his own for the Blazers, while CJ McCollum chipped in with 29.

It's Durant's highest output since scoring 51 points in a double-overtime win over the Toronto Raptors in March of 2014, the year in which he won MVP as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder. He also scored 54 points that season in a win over the Warriors.

The loss for Golden State sees the team slide back into second place in the West behind the Houston Rockets as it heads into All-Star Weekend.
