Jake Peavy doesn't appear ready to retire from his playing career just yet, even after dealing with a number of personal problems, including a scheme that robbed him of between $15 million and $20 million, and a divorce from his high school sweetheart.

The pitcher is expecting to hold a showcase for big-league scouts sometime around May. 1, Peavy told Scott Miller of Bleacher Report in an exclusive interview where he also revealed details of how a trusted financial advisor robbed him through a Ponzi-like scheme.

The 36-year-old, who's earned more than $127 million during his professional career, according to Baseball Reference, doesn't appear interested in coming back for money, though.

"I'm truly as happy as I've been in all my life," Peavy explained to Miller, who writes that the pitcher - who won 50 percent custody of his children following the divorce and has been throwing regularly with his son Jacob's high school team - hopes to resume his career and then go out on his own terms. "I truly realize that the most important thing in my life is my relationships," Peavy added.

The 15-year veteran last pitched for the San Francisco Giants in 2016, fashioning a 5.54 ERA in 31 appearances, including 21 starts. The three-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion also won the NL Cy Young Award in 2007 with the San Diego Padres.
