Max Parrot and Mark McMorris collected Canada's first medals at PyeongChang 2018 with a silver and bronze, respectively, in the snowboard slopestyle event.

McMorris, who also won bronze in the event at Sochi 2014, sat in top spot heading to the last run after an incredible 85.20 score with his second trip down the course. Parrot had fallen on both of his opening runs and sat well back of the leaders at the beginning of the third.

American Redmond Gerard laid down a brilliant performance to jump McMorris with a score of 87.16 in his last run. McMorris had the chance to best his counterpart but a hard landing on his final trip erased any possibility of gold.

That set the scene for Parrot in the final slot of the last heat to throw down a podium-clinching run, and the 23-year-old did not disappoint. The Quebec native turned in a perfect performance, leapfrogging his teammate into second for his first Olympic medal.

It's an incredible result for both Canadians, especially McMorris, after a horrific accident in the British Columbia backcountry last March. The Regina native suffered numerous injuries including a fractured jaw, fractured arm, ruptured spleen, pelvic fracture, and a collapsed lung. He remarkably returned in time for PyeongChang 2018 and will go home with another Olympic medal.
